sushi night.

Michael and I have been doing this thing where we pick a country and try to make a few traditional dishes from there. We started with Jamaican, and we've done Greek/Mediterranean, Indian, and on friday night we did Japanese. We made sushi, and Miso soup. We usually cook at the Adams home, and they have been great sports about trying everything and telling us what was good and what wasn't. Sushi was so fun to make, and fairly easy. We used imitation crab, salmon, seasoned tofu and veggies like carrots, cucumber, and avocado for fillings. We could have changed a few things about the soup, but it ended up being fine. For dessert we had ice cream with a sweetened red bean (traditional Japanese flavoring) paste mixed in and fruit and almond jelly on the side. Also taro mochi balls, which weren't a favorite around the table but I liked them. Over all we enjoyed making everything and we have extras so we can do it again very soon! I've made miso but so sushi. I don't know why, I've made everything else. Guess that's the next thing to try.
